NAS is currently accepting student applications for grades 9-12. This includes any student who has completed 8th grade, and is at least 14 years of age. Adult students (over the age of 18), who have not completed the 8th grade, or who have never attended high school, please make an appointment to meet with Administration or the Guidance Counselor, for individualized attention to make sure your educational needs are met.

The New America School is the ONLY comprehensive high school in New Mexico that accepts adult students who have not earned a high school diploma (from a US high school), and adult students who have earned a G.E.D., but still desire a high school diploma.

Applications may be picked up between 7:00 am-7:00 pm from the administrative office. All paperwork must be complete to be considered enrolled for the 2011-2012 school year. Within 30 days, all paperwork must be complete.

You may also visit the NAS school office for a registration packet and to speak to someone in person regarding NAS policies and procedures.

On November 14th, NAS-NM accepted Rachel's Challenge, and became participants in one of the most life-changing school programs in America today.  Founded by the family and frineds of Rachel Scott, the first student to die during the terrible events at Columbine high school in Colorado, the program focuses on ways to, inspire, equip and empower every person to create a permanent positive culture change in their school, business and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion.  It was an amazing event, with students fully involved in building a better school and a more compassionate community fro themselves and their families.  Following that presentation, student have formed a "Friends of Rachel" club, which meets weekly to discuss how we can create a kinder, better world.  For more information about Rachel's Challenge, please see www.Rachelschallenge.org.    We accepted the Challenge!

NAS-NM is very proud to have been selected as the 2011-2012 Charter School of the Year for New Mexico.  It is no surprise that with such great students, and an amazing staff, that NAS-NM was awarded this honor. A formal plaque was accepted by Dr. Janelle Garcia in recognition of a job well done!
