NAS is currently accepting student applications for grades 9-12. This includes any student who has completed 8th grade, and is at least 14 years of age. Adult students (over the age of 18), who have not completed the 8th grade, or who have never attended high school, please make an appointment to meet with Administration or the Guidance Counselor, for individualized attention to make sure your educational needs are met.

The New America School is the ONLY comprehensive high school in New Mexico that accepts adult students who have not earned a high school diploma (from a US high school), and adult students who have earned a G.E.D., but still desire a high school diploma.

Applications may be picked up between 7:00 am-7:00 pm from the administrative office. All paperwork must be complete to be considered enrolled for the 2011-2012 school year. Within 30 days, all paperwork must be complete.

You may also visit the NAS school office for a registration packet and to speak to someone in person regarding NAS policies and procedures.

Enrollment Periods for Each Quarter (as space permits):

Quarter 1: August 29th - November 3rd
Quarter 2: November 7th -January 26th
Quarter 3: January 30th – April 11th
Quarter 4: April 12th- June 19th

Graduation for Class of 2012: Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 10:00 AM

The New America School in Albuquerque's South Valley may be largely devoted to teaching English as a second language, but it's much more, including a traditional, diploma granting high school and an evening school for working adults.

At The New America School we believe educational opportunity is a cornerstone of American life and that English language skills are an essential component.

The New America School-New Mexico is a public charter high school dedicated to serving a unique population - recent immigrants and English Language learners. NAS-NM will open its doors August 2009 in Albuquerque's South Valley. Enrollment will begin in April 2009. Click here to contact NAS-NM for information on enrollment. The school is led by principal Dr. Janelle Taylor-Garcia. Dr. Garcia holds a PhD. in Education Administration and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She is a South Valley native and a long-time education expert in the area. She is the former principal of Bernalillo High School.
